Homeschool Quote of the Month

"But give the child work that Nature intended for him, and the quantity he can get through with ease is practically unlimited. Whoever saw a child tired of seeing, of examining in his own way, unfamiliar things?" -Charlotte Mason

Lesson Plan Overview: Implementing Tapestry of Grace

school work
As I stated in my a few days ago in my post, Experimenting with Tapestry of Grace, we have added Tapestry of Grace to our list of resources. Being somewhat of a Charlotte Mason purist, I try to add very little. But I am hoping that having some of our lessons "pre-made" cuts down on the time I spend planning lessons. We'll know that in time.

I also indicated, in that post, that I would simply be using the bits and parts I feel would be useful to us. Not that the entire program isn't useful. But, again, I'd like to keep as close to Charlotte Mason as possible and I like having a variety of reading.. not all one one subject all day long.  I've also been behind on some things due to personal issues. So following Barb's ebooks didn't happen the way I wanted either. So I'm using a bit of those things as well.

So this is of what our Lesson Plan outline for the week looked like:

  • Scripture Memory was Matthew 7:1: Stop judging that YOU may not be judged.
  • Music Study: Piano Sonata in B Flat Major-Scherzo
  • History: Story of the World Volume 1 Chapter 2  and http://www.eyelid.co.uk/ and update our Books of Centuries. History Activity: Learn and practice cleaning clothes the Egyptian way.

  • Science: Storybook of Science Chapter 4
  • Daily Typing for Alexis
  • Foreign Language: alternating days of Sign Language and Spanish

We love Tapestry and are heading into our 3rd year. I think you will find many CM styles with TOG!
