Homeschool Quote of the Month

"But give the child work that Nature intended for him, and the quantity he can get through with ease is practically unlimited. Whoever saw a child tired of seeing, of examining in his own way, unfamiliar things?" -Charlotte Mason

Homeschool Mother's Journal #8: Domesticity and Vandalism

The Homeschool Mother's Journal

In my life this week...
I'm a couple of days behind with this post. Life's had it's twists and turns and I'm simply trying to adjust. Had to play major catch-up on laundry, housework, etc. I have two additional people living here and it rather threw me off of my usual schedule. There is more laundry to be washed and more food to be cooked which means more dishes to wash. But there are also more hugs to be given and received. More love flowing around the house.. so it's all good.

In our homeschool this week...
We didn't have any "formal" studies last week. There's been art and letter-writing skills being practiced. There has been gardening and just adjusting to the new dynamics of the household. But we'll be back to work on Monday morning.

Places we're going and people we're seeing...
This coming week we'll be going across the state again. There are things to be dealt with and so we'll deal with them. I enjoy visiting friends and playing tourist anyway.

My favorite thing this week was...
I got a new website up and going. It's a recipe/southern cooking sort of site. I plan on some major design later but for now it's simple and it's operable. It's located at http://beachbillybites.blogspot.com and I am quite excited about it. It's been a long time coming.

What's working/not working for us...
Nothing is going wrong or not working right now. I could complain of legal issues but what's the point.. we shall march on.. yes?

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have...

So who is on homeschool break right now? We're not going to take our July break. We've had quite a few unexpected lapses and I'm just going to push through the summer. We'll take our break in November as scheduled.

A photo, video, link, or quote to share...

I call these "When you give artists dry erase markers...."
It began simply enough. A simple little music staff drawn by my artist-musician son.

Then the Monkey-See-Monkey-Do effect kicked in.. and my other little artist, Alexis, made her own drawing when she awoke and saw her brother's artwork.
Later in the day, Alexis added more...
Of course my son couldn't be out-drawn!
Trees must have a sky. Of course.
By 10pm, my mirror was fully decorated

Hope you had a laugh! How is homeschool going for you this week?
Be sure to visit other homeschool  moms who our journaling this week.

Happy Homeschooling!
